5. Associated Flyer

Associated Flier Program.
  • Each VPO Flier (Host Flier “HF”) can nominate 2 fliers from anywhere in Australia to fly in their loft. This/these Associated Flier (“AF”)  must have a past or present history of racing pigeons in Australia.
     
  • The Associated Flier (“AF”) Program will include 5 races on the VPO schedule.   Please see the 2013 schedule for designated races. Birds may be entered in the "HF" team for races for training purposes, but once the associated flyer program commences they are required to be entered in associated flyer races only until completion of the series. At which point the “HF” can enter these birds in all remaining races if they so choose for the remainder of the season and following seasons.
  • Each associated flyer team must be nominated at basketing for the first associated flyer race and is limited to 20 birds per "AF".
     
  • Results will be record separately for these “AF” birds in the own right (same system as our current 10 bird specials), also if these results are better than the “HF” first bird, they will record the same result in the normal VPO race (same system as our current 10 bird specials).
     
  • The “AF” program will have its own aggregrate that will be displayed on the internet. Normal type prizes should be allocated to the first 3 place getters. Also an award will be given to the Host Fliers – “Best Loft manager”.  Finally a second award should be given the “AF”- “Best Returning Bred” its points system will be identical to the Best Loft manager award.
     
  • Awards (for “HF”) – Best Loft manager (winner, 2nd and 3rd).  This is a point system award. Each bird that is entered into a AF race is given 1 point. Each bird in the first 5% of "AF" birds in each race will earn 1 point, eg. if 500 birds are entered into an associated flyer race, the first 25 birds by velocity will earn 1 point each (open clocking). Also each bird that returns from the final race is given 3 points.  Points will then be awarded to the "HF" first clocked pigeon in each associated flyer race. This award will be a prestigious acknowledgement of the quality of host flier.  For example all start with the same number of birds (20) and must try to safely race and keep the birds to the final race.  Obviously with successful results, fliers can attract future prospective fliers to their own lofts.  Finally AF/breeders will feel confidence in the system as measures are in place to get the best care and motivation for all to race the birds.
  • Once per year Registration Fee of $100.00 (for 20 birds).  50% to go to the host flier as a token to cover food costs.  25% to the VPO as a token to cover marketing and administration costs and %25 to the Hosting members club as a token to cover time and processing cost.
     
  • Bird ownership and return of birds after the seasons flying is by agreement between "AF" & "HF". The VPO will not intervene in any disputes regarding ownership and the "AF" and "HF" should communicate between themselves what is expected at season end.
     
  • Benefits  for the Host Fliers will include but not limited to:    
  1. Less need for housing stock birds, up to 40 birds that the HF doesn’t need to breed.  At 2 rounds a season that’s 10 less breeding pairs to look after. Saving time, costs to the flier & considering Town Council pressures, this is a win for all.
  2. Increase exposure of knowledge and experience gained by way of communication between AF and HF, as both parties a striving for success and returns.
  3. Self assessment of the quality of their own Stock birds and/or the health of their breeding system by way of introduction of other flyers birds.
     
  • Benefits  for the Associated  Fliers will include but not limited to: 
  1. Test their birds in a competitive and progressive pigeon organization that has big plans to return pigeon racing to its past glory days and to levels of growth currently seen in the sport of pigeon racing overseas in countries such as morocco.
  2. Allow Elderly fliers the ability to continue to experience the pleasures of racing and the passing on of knowledge and maybe some exaggerated yawns when their circumstances don’t allow them to race.  
  3. Assessment of the quality of their own race birds and/or the health of their breeding system by way of introduction of their birds to other flyers lofts.
