The birds will be in Giru (near Townsville) by 8PM tonight. They rested and ate and drank well today. Shane says they are looking great.

This is a message from Macca, on the Liberation Team. "I have spoken to Craig McDonald the QRPF liberator. He confirmed the release point for Townsville is actually Giru short of Townsville. Craig could not see any problems with the weather at the time of our discussion. He notified me they are looking at a 6.15 am liberation for Giru on Friday and Bowen on Saturday.
I have also contacted the BOM in regards to the weather for Friday and Saturday. I could not speak to the usual aviation area that I normally check with due to the storms today, they were extremely busy. I was transferred to a general area. They advised the following,
Friday for Townsville. Morning east to south east winds to 15kmh, 50% chance of 1mm in the morning, very general observation. On the trip home the birds will experience east to south east winds varying in strength from 10kmh to 15kmh average if they get to Gladstone they may pick up some north/north east in the late afternoon. There is a forecast for light showers of 1mm to 1.5mm at varying points along the coast line during the day.
Saturday for Bowen. Morning east to south east winds 15kmh to 20kmh slightly stronger than Friday. Again chance of light showers on the coast and again a chance of finding a north/north east wind later in the day at Gladstone. In the late afternoon for Brisbane a chance of rain 2mm and on the Queensland and New South Wales border a chance of a thunderstorm.
The BOM person I spoke to advised to call again tomorrow for a better observation, which I will do."

Shane said the conditions at Giru were perfect this Thursday morning with a very light NE wind blowing. The QRPF truck remained in Mackay overnight, and we're assuming it will arrive in Giru by 10AM today. Weve had a Flier from Townsville to visit to look at the birds, and they noted how good their condition was.
